The Taesang Jongdosanim on the Taeulju Mantra

The Taeeulju Mantra is a gift of salvation to all of humanity from Jeung-san Sangjenim, who revealed to us, “The world’s people shall be delivered by the Taeeulju Mantra”(Dojeon 8:56:6). The mantra remains central to Jeungs San Do’s meditation practice to this very day, chanted in our dojangs (“dao centers”) and in our homes. Our practioners chant it all times, in accordance with Taemonim’s injunction: “Chant the Taeeulju Mantra faithfully-it must roll around your mouth at all times of night and day, even while you eat and work”(Dojeon 11:165:16).

The Taesang Jongdosanim speaks of the mantra’s significance often. He has said of the Taeeulju Mantra:

Now is the age when all existence seeks and returns to its origin, for such is nature’s principle. Humanity must also seek and return to its origin, and so in terms of mantras, all people must chant the mantras of seeking and returning to the origin. The mantra of seeking and discovering one’s self and one’s roots is the Taeeulju Mantra.

At this time, humanity’s lifeline—the cord of life that allows safe passage into the coming world—is the Taeeulju Mantra. The Taeeulju Mantra shall serve as the foundation for the creation of the Later Heaven’s new civilization.

None can preserve their life at the time of gaebyeok without chanting the Taeeulju Mantra. You must hence chant the Taeeulju Mantra until your body smells of its scent. At the coming time of gaebyeok, people will perish while arriving, departing, standing still, eating, sleeping—but the Taeeulju Mantra will be your deliverance. You shall make salvation yours only if you chant the Taeeulju Mantra; and afterward, you will deliver the people of the world and reap seeds for the Later Heaven’s Paradise of Creative Change.

The sound hoom within Taeeulju Mantra represents the origin, the root of the universe. As you utter hoom, reflect upon this: the truth of all existence lies within the sound you speak. It is for this reason that hoom is considered the seed—the core.
Within hoom lies the principle and spirit of all existence. The resplendence of the mind, the fount of all awakenment, and the mind of dao are all concentrated within the sound hoom.
